I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita and – WOW! I’ve always heard of the stellar Four Seasons reputation, but now that I have stayed there, I’m hooked. If you are looking for the perfect special occasion destination, this is it. Only 2 hours by air from Southern California and other southern states, it’s an easy trip to make. Much closer than Hawaii – hop on a morning flight and be at the pool by noon.
My intrigue with the Four Seasons isn’t new. Years ago while visiting Maui, my husband and I decided to stroll through the Four Seasons while going on our morning walk. Upon entering the lobby, we were instantly greeted with a cold bottle of water and a cool washcloth. I started to protest and explain that we weren’t staying at their resort and then I realized it didn’t matter. This is just the way they treat everyone that comes through their doors.
Fast forward a few years later and while visiting the Big Island, we decided to go to the Four Seasons for a special dinner. My husband, daughter, and I were entranced with the beauty and ambience of this resort. After an amazing dinner, we walked through their property and kept commenting how magical this place was. We couldn’t quite put our finger on what it was exactly, we just felt completely at ease here. The next day we dropped our daughter off at the airport and on our way back to our condo, my husband turns to me and asks, “Hey, want to stop at the Four Seasons for a drink?” He didn’t have to twist my arm! The next year I visited the Big Island with my best friend and couldn’t wait to take her to the Four Seasons for dinner. After our meal, she asked if we could come back the next night. She agreed – there was just something magical about the resort and she also couldn’t quite explain what it was.
There’s something unique about the ambience of their resorts that truly makes you feel as if you have escaped your day-to-day world and have been whisked away to a far away land. Their customer service is above par and you always feel like a VIP.
I’ve been to my fair share of beautiful resorts, but Four Seasons continues to exceed my expectations.
While staying at the Four Seasons Punta Mita is not inexpensive, it’s the perfect retreat for those special occasions in our lives – anniversaries, honeymoons, milestone birthdays, just to name a few.

It’s always the little touches that make a good hotel into a great resort, which is why Four Seasons really delivers.
There are beautiful, expansive views of the pristine beach all over the resort.
I love that they greet you with a complimentary margarita as you check-in. What a perfect way to start your vacation!
I could sit on this balcony all day and enjoy the beautiful ocean view.
The adult pool was quiet and there was plenty of room to relax (not to mention all the hammocks!).
And who can resist a lazy river? Imagine sipping on a margarita while lounging on the inter-tube for a few hours.
After lounging by the pools, we made our way to the beaches. Even on a busy weekend, the beaches are uncrowded and quiet.
Another great touch – complimentary cabanas right on the beach! First come, first serve.
I loved the coconut stand – with fresh coconut water.
Every morning, the chef displays the fresh catches of the morning and answers questions about the different types of fish.
2 hours later, I’m eating parrotfish from that morning’s catch.
